Description
Vintage Fortis Marinemaster Ref.8001 Chronograph – 1960s Valjoux 72 Manual Wind
This vintage Fortis Marinemaster Ref.8001 chronograph dates to the 1960s and features a striking 39mm case with a 20mm lug width. The dial stands out with bold yellow sub-dials and magenta-colored hands, a distinctive color combination also offered in a blue sub-dial variant. Powered by the legendary 17-jewel Valjoux 72, a manual-wind, three-register column wheel chronograph movement dating back to the 1930s, this watch shares its caliber with icons like the Rolex Daytona Paul Newman. Fortis later reissued this model in 2014 as a limited edition automatic, but the original manual-wind Valjoux 72 version remains the most sought-after by collectors. A rare opportunity to own a celebrated vintage chronograph movement in a lesser-known but historically significant brand.
